New test - analysis of the mucoadhesion properties

Wednesday, September 23, 2015

Abich developed a new in vitr5o method to quickly and reliably test the mucoadhesion properties of product fot eye application as well as medical devices for oral or vaginal application.

The test runs the sample on a temperature-controlled plane with and without a film of mucin, with constant gravimetric measurements. The results are expressed in terms of adhesion percentage over time.

in order to show mucoadhesion properties, a product must show a statistically relevant increase in adhesion in comperison with water, the mucin interaction of which is mainly hygroscopic.

The test method allows to channge the temperature and several run variables in order to adapt to a wide range of use conditions.
